Feast of the consecration of the Holy Trinity Chapel.
A special work of art for the Glory of God
The mosaic represents the heavenly Jerusalem. “He will dwell among them and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them. He will wipe away all tears from their eyes; death will be no more, nor sorrow, nor groaning, nor pain, for what was is passed away.” The one in the seat of honour said: “See, I am making all things new. (Revelation21,3-5)
In the middle, on the throne, is Christ, surrounded by saints singing the praises of our Lord.
On either side is a scene from the Resurrection: Mary Magdalene at the empty tomb and Jesus appearing to the disciples on the shores of Lake Tiberias. The message of the Resurrection invites us to choose life in these uncertain times.
This project was inspired by ancient Eastern Rite churches.
We particularly like the mosaic technique, although it is less common in Latvia. This ancient technique is special because of the vibration of colour that the small tesserae reflect in the light.
If you have the heart to make a donation to this project, we would be very grateful. You will have helped to create a unique work of art.
Living in France for many years, we have worked in many churches and chapels, and now, back in Latvia, we want to use all this experience to make our chapel in Liepāja particularly beautiful.
This is our dedication to Latvia, hoping, believing and being a blessing with you. Kaspars and Rūta Poikāni
